Synergy Project

The A-Team Poster Explanation
We decided to use the movie The A-Team as an example for our synergy project.  On our poster we put an enormous image of the starring cast in costume as our background. We placed the logo of 20th Century Fox in the top left corner because they are the distributer of the movie. On the top left corner we put a picture of Top Cow studio’s because that is the studio used during the production of the movie. Between the two logo’s we put the title of the movie. Below the picture of the cast we have a row of images.  On the bottom left corner we have the logo for IDW Publishing because they are the company that are making the new The A-Team comic book. Beside that we have a cover of one of the new comic books, after that there is The A-Team soundtrack. In the middle we have the Logo for News Corp. We put this on out poster because they are the owners of 20th Fox Century. On the bottom left we have Empire Magazine, because they put The A-Team on there cover, and below that we have the logo of Varese Sarabande because they are the label that produced the soundtrack.

Hague Panthers Football Team Looking to Stay Perfect (Article)

Hague Panthers Football Team Looking to Stay Perfect

The Hague Panther football team is looking to stay perfect as they take on the PACI (Prince Albert College Institue) today at 4:00 in Hague. The Hague Panthers are 2-0 so far this season and  are looking to improve their record to 3-0. The team started practicing on August 26th and look pretty solid on both sides of the ball. The Hague Panthers are lead by Chris Sawatzky and Dalton Janzen, the fourth year veterans.  The coaches of the team are Kelly Lungull (offensive coordinator), and Brett Berry (defensive coordinator). The PACI Golden Bears don’t seem like they will be a contender this year as they have finished in the basement in the last couple years, and are coming of a big lose, losing to Rosthern 73-13.
The Panthers played an exhibition against the Wakaw Warriors and defeated them 36-26. There were lots of new faces on the field as many of the rookies got playing time. Travis Fehr led the team to victory scoring 4 out of 5 touchdowns. He caught 3 touchdown passes, and returned a punt for a touchdown. The special teams also looked impressive recovering a fumble on a kickoff. The kicker also looked good making 3/5 converts. It was bitter cold and raining, but the players battled through the elements and took the win.
In week 2 the panthers took on the underrated Big River Rebels. The game was a nail bitter as both teams exchange touchdowns, but it was the Panthers came on top with a 25-23 victory. The Hague offense looked shaky at best, with staring running back Travis Fehr not going 100% with a head injury, some of the younger players had to step up. “He ran into a goalpost about a week ago,” said the coach, “We don’t have a lot of depth right now.” Some of the positives coming from the game were the play of the defence

Bowling for Columbine

Bowling for Columbine
In the documentary “Bowling for Columbine”, Michael Moore uses varies example to show how easy it is to obtain guns and ammunition in the United States. In the United States there is an over-whelming amount of deaths because people are getting a hold of weapons and ammunition and not using them carefully.
The little boy from Buell elementary school brought a .32-caliber handgun and shot six-year-old girl is an example of how guns and ammunition are to easy to get in the United States. The little boy found the gun that he took to school at his uncle’s house laying on the floor loaded, all he had to do was pick up the gun.
In Michigan, Michael Moore found a bank that had a promotion that if you would open a certain type of bank account you would receive a free hunting riffle of your choice. That is probably one of the easiest way to get a gun in the US, as long as you have enough money to open up a bank account, you will get a gun, and to get the ammunition all you need to do is go to K-mart and get all the ammunition you want.

My final example of how guns and ammunition are to easy to obtain in the United States is the Columbine High School Massacre. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, walked to the K-Mart right across the street, and bought a almost an unbelievable amount of ammuntion that they killed the 12 students, 1 teacher, and themselves with.
In Bowling for Columbine it has several good example of how it's way to easy to obtain guns and ammunition in America, and a lot of Americans seem to totally blind to the problem.  When teens are able to bring guns and ammunition to school and do with them what they wish, something needs to be done.

Environment Article Summary

St. Lawrence drilling plan draws opposition
A young oil company called Corridore Resourcs is preparing to launch a oil and gas exploration off the gulf of St. Lawrence. This Halifax based oil company is facing a lot of criticism and concerns from fishermen, environmentalists and the Quebec government. There are fears of that if they find oil and gas in this largely unexplored area of the gulf that it will attract a lot of other companies that will explore the waters, and that it will harm the fish, whales, and other marine life. The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador petroleum board is most likely to vote in favor of Corridors request to survey the Marine life and sea floor before they can start drilling.

Riders Try to End Mid-Season Troubles (Editorial)

After an explosive start to the 2010 CFL season the Saskatchewan Roughriders find themselves barely hanging on to a playoff spot, losing 2 of their last 3 games leaving  with a 6-4 record. The Rider just came off their worst lose of the season losing to Winnipeg  31-2 in the annual Banjo Bowl. The game was a poor display on the part of the Riders once again, and it leaves rider nation concerned about the lack of production seen by the offence, defence, and especially the special teams.

“I don’t know where his ability went,” said GM Brendon Taman after the loss to Winnipeg. This was a comment aimed at Dominique Dorsey. Dorsey who is the kick and punt returner for the green and white, was expected to do a lot of good things for his new club, but he has failed to meet expectations. This comes as a surprise to many fans as Dorsey was the CFL special teams player of the year in 2008 before he started a short time with the Washington Redskins in the NFL and then being released and signed by the riders. He is in the bottom of the league in punt return and kick-off return with an average of 6.2 punt return and 20.8 kick-off return yards.

The sceptics are putting the blame in all different parts of the team. The easiest place to put the blame is always the quarterback, and in this case it applies heavily. Darian Durant who is a 3rd year starter has not looked good in the previous couple games.
Durant threw 5 interceptions and had no touchdowns to show for in the last 3 games. Their run game hasn’t been much better, Wes Cates has only rushed a combined 91 yards in this last three games, but it’s not entirely his fault. The offensive Line, led by the 15th year veteran Gene Makowsky, has had very disappointing games of late, and are said to be the cause of no run and game, and they are not giving Durant a sufficient amount of time in the pocket to use all of his offensive weapons. On the other side of the ball they have not faired much better. The defence has allowed over 400 yards on the ground and almost 650 in the air. The defensive line has let the opposing quarterback have his way in the pocket with only 4 sacks. The only solid part of there game recently has been their punting and kick-offs.

Some of the fans and Riders personal are not too worried. Every team will go into some kind of slump through-out the years, as long as they can get out of it before it effects the season too much. As some fans might recall the Riders lost 3 in a row in the middle of the 2007 and yet they still captured the Grey Cup.

The are not to many things that can be done to make the team better. The biggest part of the problem is that most of the players now are not playing that good, and until they start it’s out of everyone’s hands. Some changes that could be made as far as moving people in and out could be is that they need to sign a couple of offensive lineman. The o-lineman are thin in depth with a few injuries to some starters. A new punt and kick retuner is a must, a player can only have so many second chances before he gets the boot. As soon as the defensive steps up and makes plays, and Durant gets more comfortable in the pocket, the team will no doubt they will start winning again. The road to recovery wont get much easier for them as they the play Calgary next week who has only lost one game thus far through the season.

Sim's between Mickey D's and Disney Compared to Merchents of Cool

I think that there are a lot of similarities between McDonald and Disney are very much like the similarities between MTV and Sprite, because both businesses relies on each other for advertising each others product and both companies will make money, just like Sprite will host a concert with artists on MTV. MTV will host a concert on its channel so that Sprite will be advertised and MTV will have a free concert to show there artists, so both companies will advertised.

Branded Me

So these are the brands I have on right now....
  • Adidas: Athletes, Athletic people of all ages.
  • Nike: Shoes, People looking for stylish shoes.
  • Reef: Surfing, Adults and teens looking for cloths and surfing gear.
  • Champion: Feet, People that need sports apparel.

Adidas
The image I chose matched the image that was on the website, because there was pictures of athletes all over the website. The audience I chose was a off by a little bit, it seemed that Adidas was targeting more of teens and young adults.
Nike
The image didn't seem to match what was on the website. The website seemed to focus more on cloths and less on shoes. The audience i picked was some what right because there was a lot of stylish shoes but they also sold a lot of other cloths and sports equipment
Reef
There was a lot of surfing images on there websites. There are pictures of surfing cloths, shoes, and gear all through out the website. The audience was almost the same except that Reef almost marketed to a young age audience.
Champion
There wasn't any images of feet on there website. The website had images of cloths for the most part. The audience that it was trying to market to was everyone of all ages looking for some sports apparel.
